Date added: 13/11/2009 Chef Laurent Book Launch
The Millwell Road Community Centre came to life with food enthusiasts on the 12th of November when Chef Laurent launched his new title, Chef Laurent Caters for Kids.
Over 150 people flocked to the Centre to sample some tasty treats taken right from the pages of the exciting new book. Barely a crumb was remaining after guests sampled Pesto Chicken Wraps, Sushi, Ham and Brie Brioche, Berry Sorbet and much, much more!
The book includes recipes, tips and ideas to assist schools in creating an award-winning tuckshop program and wholesome, nutritious food which students enjoy.
Laurent and Chantal Vancam, husband and wife team and authors of the book, lit up the stage with their passion for life long healthy eating and easy-to-prepare meals. The idea of achieving a profit in the canteen while providing nutritious, unprocessed food for students, generated a long line of eager buyers at the sales table.
The dynamic duo run the St John's College (Nambour) canteen and recently took out the Queensland Tuckshop of the Year Award, and the 2009 Innovation in the Tuckshop Award for demonstrating excellence and innovation in food service to their staff and students.
Among the guests were teachers, parents and students of St John's College, weight-loss cookbook author, Annette Sym, Annie Gaffney of ABC Radio fame and many more Chef Laurent fans, who all happily devoured the treats prepared by Laurent himself.
Also available was the Chef Laurent Caters for Families cookbook, which was a hit among parents looking to recreate the recipes at home.
Many guests left with copies of not just one, but multiples of the books, ready to sink their teeth into the recipes and cook great food that the whole family will love!
On behalf of Chantal and Laurent, thank you to all those who joined in the celebrations and helped to support their goal of life long healthy eating.
Happy cooking!
