Why use Jigsaw Maths?
Plan, teach, revise and assess for success
The Jigsaw Maths series consists of Student Activity Books, Teacher Resource Books, Problem Solving Black Line Masters and Student CheckBooks, which when used together create an integrated program designed specifically for children to experience success in working with mathematics.
Teacher Resource Books are an invaluable source of creative ideas for planning and implementing a successful maths program.
Jigsaw Maths Student Activity Books contain teaching and learning pages, activity pages and revision pages.
Problem Solving Black Line Masters are a flexible resource that includes challenging tasks that model problem-solving strategies.
Jigsaw Maths Student CheckBooks are a carefully designed assessment program that tests student’s understanding of core content.
Multiple opportunities to consolidate core content
The key concepts for each level are introduced and carefully explained in the Student Activity books. Students then consolidate concepts on the corresponding activity pages. The revision pages provide an opportunity for students to test their knowledge of newly acquired concepts and to revise previously learned concepts. The Teacher Resource Books contain additional Maths in Context activities.
Perfect for multi-aged classes
One important feature of the Jigsaw Maths Series is that most concepts are found on the same page numbers in all Student Activity Books from years 3 to 7. This feature allows teachers to concurrently introduce a concept to a group of students who at different outcome levels.
Built around a five-week cycle
In a normal week, students complete five pages in the Student Activity Book, two corresponding pages in the CheckBook and a varying number of problems from the Problem Solving Black Line Masters.
The Jigsaw Maths program is built around a 5 week cycle: 4 weeks teaching and learning, practicing and revising the core content, and a Fixit week of consolidation and relearning. The Fixit week is integral to the Jigsaw Maths program, and allows students time to revise core content and an opportunity to master concepts previously missed.
